A shadow in the dark…
Children should be free like others. Swinging is children’s freedom, traffickers shouldn’t take away their swings. Red color represents violence and chained child silhouette to a swing represents child trafficking victims.
Human trafficking is a worldwide phenomenon.
The media is continuously raising awareness and concern about it.
So does, through posters, graphic design.
When the head of one of the most powerful symbols of the human spirit, Leonardo’s Vitruvian man, is replaced by a QR code, the meaning of the image is clear: nowadays people are merchandise to be itemized, sold, smuggled and exploited.
These smaller images show how weak and helpless they are in the face of these trafficking organizations.

For my iteration of “Shadows After Dark” to raise awareness on human trafficking, I wanted to focus on the inhumanity of the transporting and selling of people as if they were products you could pick up at the store. I chose to illustrate a girl being trapped in a box as she’s being shipped from one location to another. No human should be trapped and treated in this way.
