ALL MY LIFE is an original artwork specifically made for IRPC’20.
in loving memory of Vaughn Benjamin.
a true messenger of Jah and the rasta culture and music in the World..and now also in the whole Cosmos.
For ever.
Reggae’s the most known message to the world. Peace. In the rasta colours and in tropical vibes and shapes. As message of Reggae music is reminding on social and political issues, so does the poster have “issues” – skrcatches. It is not perfect, just as our world. All the background is in rasta colours, symbolising the Reggae music. The symbol peace is in red colour as an irony to it’s meaning in rasta colours – blood. It is a provocative reminder that most of the times peace was achieved through a lot of blood, war and darker times of our society. This is why we must appreciate peace and spread this message to the world, just as music does.
4th of 4 portrait posters I’ve created for this contest so far. Because the theme is being the ‘Messages from Jamaica” I’ve decided to craft a series of posters briefly based on a mail-stamp format. I wouldn’t hide the fact I worked extra hard on crafting a portrait using a sophisticated color-scheme and all my expertise in a portrait field to achieve nothing but epic and delicious poster to all the emotional taste buds. Recently my graphic art was picked as a BEST OF BOB MARLEY tracks album cover working for a Tuff Gong record company he established which now belongs to Ziggy Marley. I’ve gone through tons of BMs photography. The one black & white photograph I worked from as a base for this design stood out to me because of an emotion he conveys and a smoky eyes which was a challenge to re-create in color. The dots in a top right corner translates as REGGAE in Braille.
Competition logo’s lion is at the center, aiding the message of love reach all corners of the world from Jamaica. There is an abundance of love, understanding, joy and music.
The birds flew out of the guitar, and the birds flew into the sky as musical symbols. The works not only express the yearning for freedom but also express the liberation of the soul by reggae music.
In Smooth Moves poster I wanted to capture the lighthearted and happy feeling of just feeling
the rhythm of the music and moving or dancing to the beat. I also wanted to show how music
can emanate good vibes, in this case reggae music so I chose the colors usually associated
with it to be the good vibes coming from the headphones.
