In my poster I am portraying all the women (but also men) who are being silenced due to human trafficking. The focus is put on the woman with a neutral background to really portray the victim. You can see she is tired, as the victim she has to obey. But we as a humanity are also tired. I purposely didn’t give het bruises or tears to avoid the clichés. Despite her situation, she is still a strong woman. I don’t mean to shock but to put the focus on her mouth and her silence. Silence can be very powerful.
The hands of evil reach out to women in hidden corners, and women can’t cry out for help, but stare at you in despair, as if to say, do something, don’t let this happen again
The poster shows two children on swings in a birdcage and a bird flying to freedom. This symbolizes human trafficking of children mostly those who are forced to leave their innocent childhood and become adults at a very young age. It shows how children should be allowed to be children and not forced to work or become someone’s wife. These issues should concern us all and we should do our part in helping as much as we can.
With my design, I chose to use a puppet box to symbolise the trafficking of people and how people who are trafficked probably feel. The name Labour Dols is a nod to the acronym DoLs (The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards)
For this project I worked together in a collaborative project with my fellow classmate Jacob Chea-Giles
Human traffickers lure children through candy, making these children and their families into a hopeless situation, candy is like a trap, holding children and their families hostage.
The poster is a metaphor that combines the barcode with the silhouette of a minor to accentuate the worrying situation of children in the world in human trafficking. The Century Gothic, regular and bold typeface is used. CMYK color mode.
Not everyone have good intentions to help. We always have to be on the lookout when a stranger offers us help, we never know with certainty what their true intentions are
